Description

The first ropes on the market developed from the ground up specifically for the rigors of saddle hunting. Designed to deliver maximum strength, durability, and water resistance in the most compact packages, our VAPOR LINE Tethers both pack down incredibly small, include a premium carabiner, and are rigged for single-handed operation out of the package so you can minimize bulk without sacrificing safety.

VAPOR LINE ropes feature a core built from a proprietary blend of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene that is pound-for-pound stronger than steel, impervious to water absorption and floats. The exterior is constructed of a tightly woven, high-tenacity, 100% polyester sheath, providing both high UV and abrasion resistance and naturally hydrophobic characteristics.

VAPOR LINE ropes are third-party tested for minimum breaking strength, elongation, diameter, and knot-ability according to Cordage Institute (CI) 1801-07 standards referenced by ASTM 2116 for low stretch and static kernmantle life safety rope.

FAQs

What are the differences between 8mm and 10mm rope options?

The 8mm size provides the smallest and lightest option available on the market. The 10mm ropes have a slightly higher breaking strength, are 40% lighter and 30% smaller than comparable 11mm options. Both sizes are compatible with the Kong Duck ascender.

Why did Latitude develop the VAPOR LINE ropes?

We had experienced premature rope wear from the rigors of mobile hunting and wanted a rope that dried out faster after a rainy day. After looking for alternatives, we decided the best option was to develop our own with greater durability and a naturally hydrophobic construction to repel water.

What are the differences between the VAPOR LINE Tether and Lineman Belt?

Both have the exact same construction but are difference colors for organizational purposes. Additionally, the lineman belts come rigged with a second carabiner for fast attachment on both hips of your harness.

Can I use the Ropeman 1 with the VAPOR LINE 8mm ropes?

No. We suggest using the Kong Duck device if you choose to add a mechanical ascender to these ropes. An Oval Carabiner is also needed if switching to a Kong Duck

What are the advantages of 8mm ropes vs larger options?

The 8mm ropes are half the size and weight of standard 11mm options, but due to the materials used they are just as strong. In short, 8mm ropes minimize weight and bulk within your system and are easier to get in and out of dump pouches.

How do the VAPOR LINE 8mm ropes compare to Sterling Oplux?

They are the same diameter and weight, just as supple and easy to pack, but have improved UV and abrasion resistance and dry out faster after a rainy hunt. The tightly woven polyester sheath also allows hitch cords to adjust much easier without sacrificing safety.

Awesome ropes!

I bought both the 10mm tether and lineman belt to replace my existing ropes. The Vapor Line ropes are light, fast, easy to use, and most importantly: safe! The reinforced sewn eye is high quality on both ropes and gives me the confidence to rely on them. When you feel safe, you relax. When you relax, you are smooth. And when you’re smooth, you’re fast. That’s what these ropes have done for me while climbing.
When I was first ordering the 10mm ropes I was a little nervous to go with the larger diameter ropes for the sake of size and weight because my previous ropes were giant. Honestly, I probably couldn’t tell you the difference between the 10mm and 8mm. The 10mm are LIGHT and I have zero regrets saving the $30 on the set. I’m sure there are benefits to the 8mm over the 10mm but I will be raving to my fellow hunters about these ropes!
